Acheulean
Description
en-USCultural phase of the Early Paleolithic characterized by numerous handaxes and a flake-based industry with little standardization. It appears around 1.5 million years ago in Africa. In Europe, it develops between 700,000–500,000 years ago and 250,000 years ago.
