Organisation and committees
The Jean-Clottes database, Animal representations in Prehistory (BJC) is directed by Aline Averbouh (AASPE: Archéozoologie, Archéobotanique : sociétés, pratiques et environnements - CNRS-MNHN Paris) under the scientific direction of Valérie Feruglio & Frédéric Plassard (PACEA De la Préhistoire à l'Actuel : culture, environnement et anthropologie - CNRS-Université de Bordeaux), co-directors of the book Bouquetins et Pyrénées, which inspired the BJC.
Frédéric Plassard is the publishing secretary.
The tabs are edited by Aline Averbouh, unless otherwise stated. They are proofread by Armelle Bonis.
The BJC logo and home page graphics are designed by Valérie Feruglio.
The BJC is organised into three committees with different roles and constitutions:

The Administration Committee
The Jean-Clottes Database Administration Committee comprises the key players involved in its development and logistical operation. It is made up of representatives from each of the institutions providing financial and administrative support for its operation, as well as the BJC's scientific directors.

The Scientific Committee
The Scientific Committee acts as an editorial board. Its dual role is to:
- define and adjust the scientific guidelines for the database
- examine, review or proofread the texts submitted by experts (site and inventory sheets), then validate the final versions submitted by authors before online publishing.
It is made up of Jean Clottes, the director and scientific directors of the BJC, as well as specialists from a variety of backgrounds and areas of expertise, all related to animal representations: naturalists, archaeologists, archaeozoologists, historians, art historians.

The Expertise Committee
The Expertise Committee plays the role of the Reading Committee. It is responsible for validating the submitted texts. It is intended to develop according to the period or species concerned, and includes naturalists who can validate the identification of the depicted species, as well as specialists in the art or cultures in question.
